24 Hours in Florence: A Travel Diary

Firenze, Italia - 6 Agosto 2016

Florence is beautiful. Art and Architecture and that dreamy feeling of being in history books, or Dan Brown's novels! ^_^
The Cradle of the Renaissance.
Giambologna's Rape of the Sabine Women
Michelangelo's David

The Itinerary:
Galleria dell'Accademia - my fave should be Giambologna's Rape of the Sabines. I couldn't stop staring at it, giving me a different perception at every angle!

Got the earliest tickets to the museum weeks before the trip. Then that was 20 minutes of walking from our AirBnB, and being sleepy, and hungry all at the same time! Grabbed breakfast at Cafe Accademia just across the museum as we were starving. Probably a wrong choice, but their espresso was too good, really! I lalalove Italian coffee.

Then walked our way to the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. The ambiance of the area, the details of the church, and basically everything about Florence is just too beautiful it's almost overwhelming! Missed out on climbing to the top of Brunelleschi's Cupola, though. But I was perfectly in content.

Strolled along the city center embracing the heartwarming vibes, appreciated the arts in Piazza della Signoria, where the copy of Michelangelo's David statue is at; missed out the Uffizi Gallery as we just had one full day in Firenze. Hoping there's still a next time. Spent some time feeling the good vibes along the Arno River, and seeing the Ponte Vecchio from afar. It was pretty crowded, and the heat was killing us. And it wouldn't be a day in Italy without Gelato! Grom to the rescue!

If it were up to me, I would've experienced more of what Florence can offer, but at mid afternoon, we were already beat, and broke, and my travel companions were craving for Filipino food! So we opted to go home, grab some groceries along the way, and cook food to satisfy our hunger, and soothe our exhausted mind and body.

After a while, we went out for some Gelato, (again!) off to our savior, Carapina, (saved us from hunger the night before - talk bout that next!), so we enjoyed a carefree afternoon laughing our hearts out and just inhaling the peace and quiet of an afternoon away from the city center! Then we went home and finished our wine (from our host in Rome) and our bottle of Limoncello (from Positano), got drunk, and slept the night off.

For us, it was just bits and pieces of Renaissance art. Nevertheless, it was an amazing trip, and I'm filled with lovely, heartwarming memories.

Kisses. Hugs. And next time, experience Florence and other cities without cramming it up so much. *guilty grin*
