48 Hours in Venice: A Travel Diary

Venezia, Italia - 07-09 August, 2016

A crazy 2-day stop in the Floating City, and I couldn't help but be mad at myself for being so exhausted after just a week of traveling. Venice was on top of the cities I wanted to fully experience, as it's so full of emotions and mystery and history. Well, I kind of wasted hours here sleeping!!! Hmp.

But for the moments that I wasn't wasting precious vacation time, here's what we were up to.

We got to Venezia Santa Lucia Railway Station, from Firenze Santa Maria Novella Station very late in the afternoon. Checked in, and rushly went out for lunch slash dinner. Chose whatever as we were starving. Bad idea. haha pffffttt. Pasta, pizza, gelato, and we were off to wander.

Campo San Polo
Basilica di San Marco
The Grand Canal | Ponte di Rialto | The Bridge of Sighs
The Doge's Palace
Saint Mark's Square
Heartwarming music, lovely lights, people in love, St. Mark's Square filled my heart with so much emotions that I couldn't contain.

Day 2 was all about Burano (coming soon!), and getting lost once again when we got back to Venice. Exhausted with the heat and all the walking, we crashed and slept off for hours! Bad traveler right here!

Day 3 - early check out and walking around the city with our luggages. Not the best way to see the city of canals, but we tried to make the most out of our few more hours in this inspiring yet heartbreaking city.

Palazzo Ducale
Ponte dei Sospiri
Canal Grande
Campanile di San Marco
Still on our endless search for the best Gelato | Breakfast at St. Mark's Square. Yes, this is breakfast.

Hung around Saint Mark's Square for breakfast, and coffee, and felt so much just sitting there and inhaling the view, and watching peoples just be. Until we needed to keep moving. We needed shade and rest. We hopped on, 'sight-saw', and hopped off the Vaporetto wherever we felt like there are fewer tourists, and found just what we needed!

Giardini Pubblici
Be sure to drop by and eat at the Hopera, just 5 minutes walk from the park. We had our best, and also the most value-worthy meal in Venice here. Just when you stop expecting, and starting appreciating, beautiful things come through. Truly.

I expected museums, and art and literature, and history, but got no time to see them all. I dreamed of seeing these places, now I'm hoping this isn't a once in a lifetime experience. Save Venice, please. People deserve to see this awesome city!

Kisses. Hugs. And to more detours ending in unexpected places which complete us. And to learning the art of not getting tired while on tour. Haha
