Chasing Waterfalls

 07 January 2013 - Mambukal Resort

Never mind an hour of commuting from and to Bacolod City, and the 10 hours of bus and barge ride to Cebu City if you get to experience this!

First thing: trekking! There are 7 waterfalls and it takes a hundred minutes to 2 hours to get to the seventh. As we are but inexperienced trekkers with no cardio activity at all, we sure knew we couldn't last to the last. It was breathtaking! Literally and figuratively. The sound of the water falling, the calm swaying of the leaves, the reflection of the greens in the waters, the cries of the creatures freely wandering - amazing! Surreal.

Isn't it enchanting? Sixth falls, and we were finally allowed to swim; but we bailed on it since it might take a long while before we can go back to the grounds. And we were starving.

And look! Locals were jumping off the cliff! Wow!

Our tummies were growling and we just had to start trekking back to the resort. A quick lunch for the starving tummies and then some sorta walk first, trying to tour the place. There's also a boating lagoon, a butterfly sanctuary and different dipping pools to choose from.

Japanese themed hot spring.

Warm sulfur dipping pool.

I would've loved to try the hot springs but the bunch was too scared that they'll be boiled in 10 minutes time.  These springs also have such therapeutic properties and it would've been lovely to dip in the hot waters with the cool wind blowing. Okay, we opted those out.

And decided on this. A pool all to ourselves.

And us goofing around. And having the time of our lives! :)

And those are fruit bats panicking! Or I don't know really. They were a sign for us that the day is almost coming to an end, and we've got to get back to our real lives. *big sigh*

Nah! This getaway was perfect! Aside from the fact that we could've just taken a plane home, and not spend the whole night and the whole morning of the  next day hurting our backs. haha
Lesson learned: if there's a plane, take the plane! :)
