Pit Senyor!

Cebu City celebrates a feast every 3rd Sunday of January to honor the Child Jesus, Senor Santo Nino. It is one big event that is greatly anticipated by the whole of Cebu. It is celebrated with a 9-day novena in the Basilica del Santo Nino, a procession on the Saturday after the novena, and then the great feast on the Sunday after the procession. The Feast is celebrated with Masses and Dances at the Basilica of Santo Nino, and also with a very colorful and lively parade and dances from all of Cebu, and even from neighboring provinces in the Visayas. Almost everyone looks forward to watching these dances and the parade in the city, which makes it so much fun because you get to see the whole province in one huge place.

After the parade, people look forward to the fireworks display wherever in the City. And then: Party all night!

Young, or not so young, they all get to enjoy one great festival!

Viva Pit Senyor!! :)

Unfortunately, I can not share pictures in this post since I was not able to celebrate with the rest of the city 2010’s Sinulog. I feel so sad for this, for me. :(
