Read It Before You See It

That's what the cover page of Neil Gaiman's book says. Unfortunately, I did not see that message before watching the movie, so I watched the movie Coraline first before I read it.

And dang! While reading I understood why. You really should read before watching, your imagination would work better, you won't be trying to just remember the scenes of the movie but let your mind do its job.

The story was about not being contented with the life you have, and wishing there was something better, something more. And, there is. There's a little door leading to a better home, with the other mother, and the other father, with everything Coraline ever wanted. Except that, they all have button eyes. And the other mother wants Coraline to stay there forever so she can love her and provide all she wants. And sew button eyes. It was all a trap. Good thing Coraline was smart. She figured a way through it, with the help of a talking cat: through a game. She knows the other mother won't be playing fair. But she still did everything she can to make things right. And you should read the story to know how it went.

I'm not really good with making synopses but that's what makes it more interesting. When you don't get it too much, you would want to read it more.
